Our Story

For Founder and Managing Partner Richard Orozco, The Station at Smokey Oaks isn't just a restaurant in the works, it’s a commitment to his own backyard.

Born and raised in the Heights, and a proud alum of St. Pius X High School and the University of Houston, Richard’s vision for this space is deeply personal. Now living and raising his family in Garden Oaks, he set out to build the kind of welcoming, high-caliber craft barbecue joint that his own neighbors, friends, and family would want to gather at.

Turning that hometown vision into a reality meant bringing together the absolute best people. Richard partnered with his younger brother, Nicholas Orozco, who commands the smoke as Pitmaster. To build out fantastic daily operations and elevate the bar program to those same high standards, Richard tapped partners (and close friends) Kyle Tucker as General Manager and Kristen Genoway as Beverage Director.

Together, this dedicated local ownership team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring The Station to life. We can't wait to open our doors, fire up the smokers, and welcome you to our corner of the neighborhood!
